Company Mission
Our Story
Originally operating as a printing broker based in Newark, NJ, Ideal Jacobs was established in 1921 by Morris Jacobs. In the late 1940s both of Morris’s sons, Jerome and Leonard, joined the company to begin creating the family legacy that has led Ideal Jacobs brand for the past 95 years.
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the company expanded moving operations from New Jersey to a manufacturing site in New York City. By the late 1960s the two sons invested in their own printing press and made the first move from being printing brokers to printing manufacturers.
Unfortunately, however, by 1971 and after much contention and strife, the two sons split the business with Jerome moving his part back to New Jersey and once again being a printing broker, while Leonard kept the plant in New York city, which eventually stopped operation.
In 1977, Jerome’s son, Andrew, joined the company. His tenacity and desire to grow the business enabled Ideal Jacobs to grow and prosper into the worldwide supplier it is today. By 1985, Andrew took over as head of the company.
In 2001, Andrew and his team installed their first manufacturing plant in Maplewood, NJ moving Ideal Jacobs Corp permanently to printing manufacturing. Over the next 16 years, the company expanded to include: a state-of-the-art machine shop at the Maplewood, NJ manufacturing facility, two manufacturing facilities in China, two distribution centers – Mexico and Belgium, and additional sales teams in China and Thailand. The Ideal Jacobs partnering corporations in Asia went public on the Malaysian Stock Exchange on May 18, 2011 with Andrew Jacobs as the chairman.
Ideal Jacobs is a lean targeted New Jersey based corporation with subsidiaries in Mexico and The Netherlands and partnering corporations in China and Malaysia.
